The wild Yuffie Kisaragi hails from a small town called Wutai. She was almost abandoned by her father, Lord Godo Kisaragi, when she was born. Yuffie was the first female born to the Kisragi family for centuries. Ashamed that he had disgraced his family's name by having a daughter, he chose to give Yuffie as a sacrifice to the water god of Wutai, Leviathan.

The night before the infant Yuffie's life was to be taken, a servant of Lord Godo, Felicia, snuck the child out of the house and helped raise her in a house on the other side of town. Felicia's brother, a samurai that worked as a guard under Godo, helped train the young girl in the art of the ninja. Yuffie, growing up spoiled and undisciplined, was eager to learn. She soon began using the skills for her own gain, becoming a master thief.

At the age of eleven, Yuffie was presented to her father. Godo, shocked that his daughter was still alive, reluctantly allowed her to return to the Kisaragi house. Known all over Wutai for her nasty attitude, Yuffie was dubbed a brat, a title that she constantly maintained. At age of sixteen, Yuffie left home on a journey, returning soon after to defeat her own father to prove her worthiness in a challenge.

Now, back at home, Yuffie is undergoing training under her father. With long hard days of both physical and mental training, Yuffie finds herself sneaking out of the house more often than she'd like to. She hates to admit that the mental training and constant meditation has calmed Yuffie down considerably, her wit not quite as quick as it used to be. Finding refuge from her father's scouts in the tavern, she can be found lounging in the rafters, or flirting with men to get whatever she can from their pockets.
